We offer a range of formal training for the general public
If you have a VHF or HF radio on board, you are required by law to have a license to operate it. This even applies if you have a VHF hand-held radio.
We run regular courses leading to the SROCP, (Short Range Operators’ Certificate of Proficiency) and the LROCP, (Long Range Operators’ Certificate of Proficiency) qualifications. The SROCP is the miniumum requirement to legally operate a VHF Marine Radio.
Please note the SROCP and LROCP run together over a full day, LROCP attendees complete a few extra hours.
This course is intended for people who are planning longer voyages, including ocean crossings.
In addition to incorporating all of the SROCP course material, this course also includes information about MF and HF frequencies, signal propagation and voyage planning.
The Long Range Operators Certificate of Proficiency (LROCP ) course runs from 08:00 to approx 17:00.
